This print appears as the cover illustration of the above cited catalogue raisonné. This major print was published by the Woodcut Society in 1945 and we offer it here, as published, in the original presentation folder with a foreword by Carl Zigrosser. SOLD |

Summer Storm Chiaroscuro wood engraving, 1940, Comstock/Fletcher/BPL 291, edition 90. 5 1/4 x 9 9/16 in. Signed, dated and numbered in pencil, "Ed. 90." This is a superb impression printed on thin Japanese paper. The margins are full and the condition is excellent. This is by far one of Nason's best prints; a chiaroscuro wood engraving printed from three blocks; black, grey-green and light olive. This is the first time we have offered this rare work; a modest masterpiece of American landscape wood engraving. SOLD |
