Drypoint, 1925, Dodgson 412 (160 impressions in 29 states). 12 5/8 x 8 1/16 in. Signed in the plate and signed in pencil. This is a superb, luminous impression of this iconic British print. The margins are full and the condition is fine. (There is just a very faint suggestion of mild time tone within a previous mat opening.) This impression is inscribed by Bone "very fine early impression" (LL margin); "very fine impression, M.B." (LR margin); and, "Property of Muirhead Bone, Grayflete, Ferry Hinksey, Oxford." Also in the top margin is his capital "B" indicating a preferred impression and also "MB" in his hand as well. Years ago we sold the cancelled plate for this print which is now in the University of Michigan Museum of Art. $8,000
