Pointer Dogs (Chiens d'ârret), or, Two Pointers (Deux Pointers) - MAURICE TAQUOY
Medium: etching and aquatint printed in colors
Etching and aquatint printed in colors, 1907, edition probably 50-100. 10 5/8 x 18 7/8 in. Signed and dated in the plate, lower left. Signed, dated and numbered in pencil"No.38". This is a superb impression in very good condition. The margins are full with a deckle edge on all sides. There's a subtle trace of staining in the lower left margin corner and slight toning on the verso of the sheet. Taquoy lived and worked in Paris and exhibited at the Salon d'Automne from 1904 and also at the Salon des Indépendants from 1905. This exceptional, large work is illustrated on page 86 of From Pissarro to Picasso, Color Etching in France (1992) by Philip Dennis Cate and Marianne Grivel.
