Pool - ROBERT RIGGS
Lithograph, circa 1933, Bassam 33, edition unknown. 14 5/8 x 19 1/2 in. Signed on the stone, lower left. Signed and titled in pencil, and with the number "30" in pencil. This is a fine impression on off-white wove paper with the watermark RIVES. The margins are full and the condition is fine apart from a little rippling in the lower margin. This tour de force of figurative work was based on multiple sketches done at the Germantown Boys Club. This interest in the male nude is also evident in the prints of George Bellows, particularly, "The Shower-Bath" (Mason 45) and "River-Front" (Mason 168).
