Large Bird Eating a Lizard Etching and aquatint printed a la poupee, 1926, edition unknown. 25 3/4 x 18 5/8 in. Signed and dated in ink, lower right. (Once in the image and once below the image.) This is a superb, beautifully inked impression of this monumental print. The margins are substantial. The condition is very good other than faint toning on the verso in a few areas. This majestic work is typical of Gerbrandt's interest in wildlife in a natural setting. His technical skills are remarkable; he can work delicately and also with a dramatic, deeply etched line that flourishes on a large scale. The artist lived and worked in Amsterdam and later moved to Haarlem. He studied with Jan Visser and F.W. Nieuwenhuis. Grebrants was also a painter and a draughtsman extraordinaire. SOLD |

View of the Grebbe in Rhenen Etching printed in colors, circa 1930-35, edition probably 50. 13 3/8 x 15 1/2 in. Signed and titled in pencil. This fine impression is inscribed "1e druk" ('first impression'). The margins are full. Condition: very good. There's slight overall toning to the front of the sheet in the margins.
