Calf (Kalfje) Lithograph, circa 1920-30, small edition. 7 1/8 x 8 5/8 in. Signed and titled in pencil. Also, inscribed in pencil, "eigendruk" (hand-printed.) This is a fine delicate impression printed on thin China paper. The margins are probably full and the condition is quite good. Wittenberg was a gifted draughsman and excelled in woodcut, lithography and painting. He lived and worked primarily in the Hague and Dordrecht. His work is found in many museums including the Rijksmuseum, the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the Gemeentemuseum. SOLD |

Geitje (Kid) Lithograph, 1949, edition unknown. 11 1/2 x 15 1/8 in. Signed and dated on the stone. Signed and titled in pencil. This is a superb impression of the large work. The margins are full. The condition is very good other than for slight wrinkling in the outer margins here and there. Exquisitely rendered, this lovely print reflects Wittenberg's great skills as a draughtsman. Birds and animals were typical subjects and he was equally well-versed in the woodcut medium. $900 |
