Etching and aquatint printed in colors, 1907, from a very small edition. 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 in. Signed in pencil. Dated in pencil and inscribed "Paris." This is a fine impression printed on a wove paper. The margins are wide and appear to be untrimmed. Fine condition. Squire met Ethel Mars in Cincinnati and the couple went to Paris in 1903. They remained there together until the start of WW1. From there they went to Provincetown, MA and became active in the art scene there. The couple eventually returned to Paris and became great friends of Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas. They remained in France for the rest of their lives.

This is a superb impression with rich colors. The margins are full and the condition is fine. This is one of many exemplary floral woodcuts done by Urushibara. Color variations exist of this print. Ex-collection: the artist's estate via Ichiro Urushibara, the artist's son. The artist rarely dated his prints.

Woodcut, 1900, Braches 971109; one of a few proofs. 9 7/8 x 7 in. Initialed in the block, lower left. This is a superb impression with full margins. The condition is fine apart from a subtle stain in the lower right margin. This wonderful Dutch art nouveau woodcut is the cover design for the book of the same title. It was published in Haarlem by Erven F. Bohn, 1900. Veldheer was a masterful woodblock artist who spent considerable time in France and was influenced by Japanese prints as well as by Paris art dealer, Samuel Bing.

Lithograph, 1930, edition unknown. 19 1/2 x 14 1/8 in. Initialed and dated in the lower left corner. Signed and titled in pencil. This is a fine, rich impression printed on a light cream wove paper. The margins are full. The condition is fine. Voskuyl lived and worked in the Hague where he was a member of the Pulchri Studio. He was a remarkable draughtsman as well as a painter. His work is found in the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the Rijksmuseum.

This impression bears the Edith Wengenroth collectors mark; a lighthouse with her initials. This rare print was done in Castine, ME. Note: this work was printed with two stones, one being a tint stone. The catalogue lists an edition of 20 but this impression says "ed 22."

Etching and drypoint, 1859, Glasgow 55 (ii/III), Kennedy 46 (ii/II); Glasgow mentions 103 impressions taken from the plate. 9 7/8 x 6 7/8 in. Signed and dated in the plate, lower right. This is an exceptionally fine impression printed with carefully articulated plate tone. The paper is an antique laid with a hard to determine watermark. The margins are full and the condition is fine. This exceptional early work was published in the Thames Set in 1871. The Lime-Burner was quite popular among collectors at the time it was published and continues to be popular today. The plate was acquired by Charles Lang Freer in 1896 and bequeathed to the Freer Gallery of Art.

The condition is fine apart occasional soft wrinkles here and there in the margins only. Burk writes about this major print in his PCQ article, "A sense of other-wordly communion is conveyed in this work, with the boat illuminated by the rising sun, which levitates magically over the water and casts a dark shadow on its surface. The vessel is surrounded by a myraid of of fish swimming in oval patterns." Provenance: Hirschl & Adler Galleries, NY.
