Lithograph, 1937, edition about 25 impressions. 14 x 10 1/2 in. Initialed on the stone, lower left corner. Signed and titled in pencil below the image. This is a fine, rich impression printed on BFK RIVES cream-colored paper. The margins are full. The condition is generally very good apart from handling creases in the margins and occasional discoloration at the sheet edges. This is a known New York WPA print but lacks the stamp. Impressions are in the Newark Museum, the New York Public Library, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian. Vogel was a founding member of the American Artists Union and his potent, surrealist-like prints provide a distinctive chapter for American graphic art during the 1930s. This is one of his best works.      SOLD
