Tête de Femme - EDMOND FRANÇOIS AMAN-JEAN
Medium: lithograph printed in colors
EDMOND FRANÇOIS AMAN-JEAN
French, (1858-1936)
Lithograph printed in colors, circa 1897, Johnson 2, Not in BN-IFF; edition probably 100. 18 1/2 x 15 in. Signed on the stone with the monogram. Signed and numbered in pencil, lower right. This is a fine, subtle impression of this uncommon print. The image is printed on thin china paper; the margins are wide and the condition is quite good. (There's slight darkening in the outer sheet edges.) This is a fine example of French symbolist printmaking which was published by Vollard. For a time, Aman-Jean shared a Paris studio with Seurat. His prints are not usually signed in pencil.
