Mezzotint, 1909, Wuerth 506; edition probably 50. 9 7/8 x 14 3/4 in. Signed in pencil. This superb impression is also titled in pencil along the lower margin by the artist, "(St. Paul's From my Window), mezzotint." The margins are substantial and the condition is very good. There's a bit of weakening along the plate mark here and there from printing. This masterful London view epitomizes Pennell's experimental approach to intaglio printmaking. Like Whistler and his painterly noctures, Pennell works gracefully here in mezzotint to create a stunning design of subtle grandeur.      SOLD
