Drypoint, 1925, Dodgson 412 (viii/XXIX); one of three impressions in this rare early state; total edition 160. 12 1/2 x 8 1/8 in. Signed in the plate and signed in pencil lower right. A superb impression of this rare state printed on a thin off-white wove paper. Fine condition. Full margins. A masterpiece of the medium, this work has always been considered one of the great Britsh prints from the first half of the 20th century.

The paper is an antique laid. The margins are full and the condition is fine. Chioggia is a seaside town south of Venice. There's a small collector's mark, verso, which we can't seem to identify.

The margins are modest in size (3/4") but this is probably the full, untrimmed sheet. The condition is fine apart from slight light toning within an early mat opening. This print is from a series of ten prints, "Ten Drypoints by Muirhead Bone," published by Messrs. Obach and Co., London.

The margins are full and the condition is excellent. This tour de force of drypoint displays a refined composition, great detail and perspective, and the figurative and architectural elements are bathed in dramatic light. The Chiesa dei Santi Apostoli di Christo, commonly called San Apostoli, is a 7th century Roman Catholic Church and one of the oldest churches in Venice.

Drypoint, 1906, Dodgson 196, edition 46. 15 3/4 x 10 1/8 in. Initialed in the plate, lower right. Signed in pencil. This is a superb, luminous impression printed on Japanese paper. The margins are full and the condition is fine. This is one of Bone's largest and most successful prints and suggests a comparison in some ways to Piranesi. The demolition took place along with portions of Nash's Quadrant for the future construction of the Picadilly Hotel. This print is rare today and is very desirable.

Drypoint, 1915, Dodgson 348, small edition. 7 7/8 x 9 3/4 in. Signed in pencil. This is a superb impression with full margins. The paper is a cream Japanese and the condition is fine apart from soft waviness to the sheet in the sky area. The Sardinian Chapel was an important Roman Catholic Church which was demolished in 1909 to make way for Kingsway. The Church was rebuilt at a different location fronting Kingsway. This is is the Lincoln's Inn area of London.

This is a superb, atmospheric impression printed on Japanese paper. The margins are full and the condition is quite good. Drawn from Hinksey, this exquisite, panoramic view is reminiscent of Rembrandt and his many views of Amsterdam.

(There's just a very slight suggestion of toning within an earlier mat opening, mainly on the right side.) This rare print is a stunning exercise in the drypoint medium. There were only 2 impressions printed in 1905. In 1907, the remaining impressions of state one and state two were printed. Ex-collection: Morris Schapiro, Lugt 1918bis.)

Here we have a superb, luminous impression printed on cream laid paper. The margins are full and the condition is fine. This tour de force of the drypoint medium is a great moment in Bone's illustrious career. This location is Madison and 45th Street in New York and depicts the early construction of the Hotel Roosevelt. The hotel opened for business in 1924.

Drypoint, 1915, Dodgson 332 (vi/VI); 105 impressions in this state. 11 3/4 x 14 7/8 in. Signed in pencil. This is a superb, dramatic impression printed on white Japanese paper. The margins are wide and probably full. The condition overall is fine. (There's a very subtle suggestion of an old adhesive along the extreme edges of the margins, verso, from an early mount.) This outstanding London wartime scene relates to a drawing now in the Fleming-Wyfold Art Foundation. A proof was exhibited at the 8th Exhibition of the Society of Twelve, 1915, and the proceeds of sales were given by the artist to the Belgian Relief Fund. (There were three trial proofs in the first state and 145 impressions in states II-VI).

Drypoint, 1925, Dodgson 412 (160 impressions in 29 states). 12 5/8 x 8 1/16 in. Signed in the plate and signed in pencil. This is a superb, luminous impression of this iconic British print. The margins are full and the condition is fine. (There is just a very faint suggestion of mild time tone within a previous mat opening.) This impression is inscribed by Bone "very fine early impression" (LL margin); "very fine impression, M.B." (LR margin); and, "Property of Muirhead Bone, Grayflete, Ferry Hinksey, Oxford." Also in the top margin is his capital "B" indicating a preferred impression and also "MB" in his hand as well. Years ago we sold the cancelled plate for this print which is now in the University of Michigan Museum of Art.

The paper is a cream wove and the sky is beautifully inked. The margins are full and the condition is fine. (There are old hinges at the top corners, recto.) This is a view of the old town (Staden) from across the harbor on the south side (Söder Malm). There were 122 impressions in this state and a total of 142 total.

(There's a tiny speck of printer's ink in the sky at the right. and two small repaired tears in the upper right margin.) Strandvägen, as pictured in the distance, is one of the most elegant boulevards in Stockholm. This is a rare print.

The Trevi Fountain, Rome
Drypoint, 1913, Dodgson 304, edition 87 comprising 19 states. 15 7/8 x 10 1/4 in. Signed in the plate, lower left. Signed in pencil. This is a superb impression with full margins. The condition is excellent. The first state dates from 1913 and the subsequent work was done in 1928. The Trevi Fountain was designed by Nicola Salvi and it was constructed between 1732 and 1762. Salvi died in 1751 and four different sculptors where hired to complete the decorations.

The margins are full and the condition is quite good. The Royal Opera House is depicted in the background of this dynamic and somewhat haunting scene. In this, the final state, eighty impressions were printed.
