The margins are wide and the condition is fine. This wonderful print combines just the right paper with subtle colors and inking to produce a dramatic vista.

The condition is excellent. Here we have a large and exemplary work by Frank which shows a scene near Salzburg. This impression is from the celebrated collection of Robert O. Muller from Connecticut.

The condition is fine. This impression is from the signed edition of 100 printed by the Spiral Press. There was an additional unsigned edition of 2,000 on card stock for a Weyhe Gallery invitation to a show of Gag's work.

The margins are full. The condition is good but with a few very subtle, soft creases in the image. The best and most recent source of information on Gearhart prints is, Behold the Day, The Color Block Prints of Frances Gearhart, published by the Pasadena Museum of California Art (2009) edited by Susan Futterman.

The margins are full. The condition is fine other than for a very faint suggestion of light toning just outside the image within an early mat opening. This small, charming work is not listed in the Pasadena retrospective catalogue from 2009.

This is a superb impression printed on her typical fibrous Japanese paper. The margins are full. The condition is fine apart from a thin spot in the upper left corner of the margin away from the image. This large, majestic print is one of her finest works.

This is a superb impression with full margins. The condition is fine. This outstanding southwestern image was published by the American Color Print Society in 1948. The artist used seven blocks to complete the image.

Woodcut, undated (probably about 1930), editon unknown. 7 7/8 x 4 1/4 in. Signed in pencil. Here we have a fine impression printed on fibrous Japanese paper. The margins are full and the condition is fine. (There are two original brown paper hinges at the top corners of the margins, away from the image.) Heijse lived and worked in Middelburg and Amsterdam. He was a student of C. J. W. Nuijs and studied at the Rijksakademie. He also took lessons from Jan Toorop. Heijse was known as a painter and illustrator and his woodcuts are quite well done with a flair for compelling design.

The margins are full and the condition is excellent. Ingles studied at the Royal College of Art in London. In the tradition of Fletcher, Seaby, Platt and others, Ingles produced a number of well-crafted woodcuts in an arts and crafts style.

This is a fine, luminous impression printed on thin Japanese paper. The margins are full. The condition is very good apart from very faint toning within an earlier mat opening. Joyau produced some wonderful woodcuts of his native France and he was influenced by the better known Henri Rivière. He was an etcher and painter and made about fifty woodcuts during his short career. Joyau saw an exhibition of Japanese woodcuts in about 1894 which proved to be an ongoing inspiration. He exhibited his woodcuts with the Société de la Gravure sur Bois (S.G.B.O.) and spent much of his time in Fontainbleau which provided a rich source of subject matter for his work. Les Sables-d'Olonne, the location for this print, is a seaside resort and fishing community on the coast of western France.

The margins are full and the condition is fine. Kirkpatrick was born in Dublin and studied at the South Kensington Academy of Art in London. She originally trained as a watercolor painter but making woodcuts became her primary interest. For many years she lived at Cowes, Isle of Wright, and maintained a studio there.

The condition is very good other than for slight toning within an earlier mat opening. She lived and worked in Hamburg where she specialized in arts and crafts style color woodcuts. She was married to the artist, Hugo Amberg.

This is a superb impression printed on cream VAN GELDER watermarked paper. The margins are full. The condition is fine apart from just a faint suggestion of light toning within an earlier mat opening. Laage was born in Hamburg and began his printmaking career in 1896. He lived in Paris for many months beginning in 1900 and participated in exhibitions in Vienna and Dresden. He became friendly with Kandinsky, Hans Neumann and Karl Hofer as they exhibited together. Gustave Schiefler published the first catalogue of his woodcuts in 1912 and an article was written about Laage by ER Weiss for Ver Sacrum. Laage is best know for his woodcuts and they range from decidedly expressionist in style to a more realistic approach tinged with stoicism, as seen here. This large, impressive woodcut is one of his most captivating works.

This is a fine impression of this very rare print. The paper is a thin Japanese and the margins are full. The condition is fine apart from a small, barely visible 1/2" tear at the top edge at left and another tiny split at the bottom. This endearing Provincetown image captures the essence of what was happening in this New England artists community during the 1920s and 1930s. The sheet was first printed (or applied by hand) with this vibrant background color and then the image and text were printed, possibly from two separate blocks. This charming print is illustrated on page one of "From Paris to Provincetown: Blanche Lazzell and the Color Woodcut (2002).
