Etching with engraving, 1852 and later, Schneiderman 23 (iv/X), Delteil-Wright (iv/X), edition unknown. 10 1/4 x 7 1/4 in. Initialed in the plate, upper left. This is a superb, luminous impression printed on cream laid paper with an elaborate fleur-de-lis watermark bearing the letters HP. The margins are wide and probably full. The condition is fine other than for an occasional handling mark and an incidental rust mark and minor marginal stain here and there. This early state still shows the horizontal mark in the blank are at bottom. This is removed in the fifth state. Early impressions such as this one are rare, indeed. Ex-collection: Henri M.
