Etching, 1878, Curtis & Proute 52 (i/III). 14 x 17 7/8 in. Signed and dated in the plate and also signed in pencil. A fine, luminous impression of the very rare first state, before the plate was cut down. Wide margins. Very good condition apart from a repaired split in the lower right corner, just to the platemark. Signed impressions of Appian etchings are quite rare.      SOLD
