Lithograph, 1941, Adams/Eliens/van den Noort-van Gelder L66; edition unknown. 17 3/8 x 13 14 in. Initialed and dated on the stone, lower right corner. Signed in pencil. This is a superb impression of this rare early work. The condition is fine apart from a small mended tear in the right side margin, not affecting the image. There's a small paper loss in the lower right corner of the margin. The margins appear to be full and untrimmed. This exquisite and beautifully drawn lithograph was published by VAEVO "de Vereeniging tot Bevordering van het Aesthetisch Element in het Voortgezet Onderwijs, voor schoolversiering" (the Society for Promotion of the Aesthetic Element in Secondary Education). Van Gelder's interest in lithography occupied the early part of his career and this is the last one described in the raisonné.       $1,300
