Two Violinists - DAVID PARK
Medium: lithograph printed in colors
DAVID PARK
American, (1911-1960)
Lithograph printed in colors, circa 1937-40, edition unknown. 6 7/8 x 9 1/4 in. Signed on the stone, lower right. This is a fine impression of this very rare, early work. The margins are wide and probably full. The condition is excellent. Printed and published in New York by Albert Carman, this very appealing work was a part of the Artists Color Proof Associates production in lithography. The work was shown in New York at the Charles L. Morgan Galleries on 57th Street. Other artists making prints there were Charlot, Cook, Freeman and Lozowick. These efforts are discussed in Clinton Adams book, American Lithographers 1900-1960, pages 148-149. Park later achieved great fame as a prominent figurative painter in the San Francisco Bay area. The Santa Barbara Museum of Art owns an oil painting of the same subject.
