Bosidyelle (Woodland Idyll) - THEO VAN HOYTEMA
Medium: lithograph printed on chine applique
THEO VAN HOYTEMA
Lithograph printed on chine applique, 1898, Rijksmuseum 80 (ii/II), edition probably about 100. 12 1/8 x 8 1/4 in. This is a fine impression printed in gray-green ink. The margins are probably full. This subtle, beautifully drawn lithograph is a fine example of Dutch art nouveau printmaking. The work is illustrated and discussed on pages 118-119 of Holland on Paper in the Age of Art Nouveau (2014) by Cliff Ackley. The image appears in a few slightly different ink colors and is occasionally signed in pencil.
