Holcomb's Mill Etching, 1922, edition 75. 5 x 6 1/4 in. Signed in the plate. Signed and titled in pencil. This is a superb, luminous impression with wide margins. The condition is excellent. Garber was the only New Hope School painter who excelled as both a painter and printmaker. SOLD |

Spring Valley Willows Etching, 1942, edition 50. 8 7/8 x 11 7/8 in. Signed in the plate and signed and titled in pencil. The impression was printed by the artist and is so inscribed "DG imp.). This fine, luminous impression has substantial margins measuring at least 1/2" all around. The condition is excellent. This large work is exemplary of Garber's skills as an etcher. SOLD |

The Limeport Quarry Etching, 1947, Humphries E52, edition 50. 9 x 12 in. Signed in the plate, lower left. Signed, titled and numbered in pencil. This is a superb, luminous impression. The margins are wide showing tack holes on two sides of the sheet. (Like Childe Hassam, Garber would tack the just printed impressions to a surface to dry.) The condition is excellent. (This impression was printed by the artist as it shows "D.G.imp.") Garber was a leading painter of the New Hope art colony and he also excelled at etching having produced about fifty works. He taught at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts for about forty years. There's a related painting in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the scene depicted is along the Delaware River across from Limeport, PA, not far from New Hope. $2,800 |
