In addition to his meticulous panoramic views of the Dutch countryside, Haverkamp was an architectural etcher with extraordinary skills. Evening, Amsterdam (Avond te Amsterdam) Etching, 1914, edition unknown. 7 5/8 x 11 1/2 in. Signed and dated in pencil. This is a fine impression printed on cream-colored paper. The margins are full and the condition is fine. The scene depicted shows the harbor in Amsterdam. Haverkamp was a wonderful etcher with an emphasis on architectural detail and atmosphere. SOLD |

Haverkamp produced many etched panoramic landscapes of the Dutch countryside continuing the great traditions of the 17th century etchers and painters; among them Rembrandt, Jan van Goyen, Philips Koninck and others. Oude Kerk, Amsterdam Etching, undated (circa 1920), DeBois 216, van Eekelen 234; edition unknown. 15 5/8 x 15 1/2 in. Signed and titled in pencil. This is a fine impression with exquisite detail. The margins are probably full and the condition is excellent. Gerard C. Haverkamp (1872-1926) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and etcher. Until his early 20s, he worked in an office and was artistically active only in his spare time. He was taught etching by Maurits van der Valk. Later, he spent time in Paris, living with his friend Pieter Dupont. Haverkamp is mainly known as an etcher, having left an oeuvre of about three hundred prints. Oude Kerk is Amsterdam's oldest building and was founded in about 1213. $650 |

In fine condition and with full margins.
