The Capstan Etching, circa 1930, edition probably about 50. 9 7/8 x 14 1/4 in. Signed in pencil, lower right. This is a fine impression printed on white laid paper with the watermark DAVID STRANG. The margins are full and the condition is excellent. Bouverie Hoyton studied at the Goldsmiths' College under Malcolm Osborne and Stanley Anderson. This large and exceptional work suggests the influence of Griggs and Palmer, and the beautifully rendered figures and sophisticated composition elevate this print to his very best work. Bouverie Hoyton was a close friend of Graham Sutherland. SOLD |
