Louise Balthy
Lithograph, 1898, Delteil 157, Wittrock 256; edition 400. 11 3/4 x 9 1/2 in. Signed on the stone with the monogram, upper left. This is a fine impression from the first edition, printed in grey black on beige wove paper. The condition is fine and the margins are full. This exemplary work is from the set of thirteen lithographic portraits of actors and actresses called "Treize Lithographies." The set was published before 1906. Louise Balthy (1869-1925) performed at the Moulin Rouge, the Folies Bergère and other famous Parisian night spots. Impressions of this print are in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Art Institute of Chicago.

The Milliner, Renée Vert (La Modiste, Renée Vert) - TOULOUSE-LAUTREC

The Milliner, Renée Vert (La Modiste, Renée Vert)
Brush and splatter lithograph printed in colors, 1893, Delteil 13, Adhémar 17, Wittrock 4(ii/II); edition 50; a proof of the second state with the text removed. 17 x 11 1/2 in. Signed on the stone with the printed monogram. This is a fine impression with probably the full margins. The colors are fresh. The condition is very good apart from four small subtle wrinkles at the corners from earlier hinges, verso. There's a slight crease in the lower right corner just barely affecting the printed area. Renée Vert was also a fashion designer and married to the painter, Joseph Albert. They were good friends of Lautrec. Impressions without the text are found in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
