Circe
Woodcut, undated (about 1920-25), edition unknown. 10 x 7 in. Signed and titled in pencil. Inscribed "handdruk." Here we have a fine impression printed on a sturdy, fibrous laid paper. The margins are full and the condition is fine. Van der Stok is well known for his stylized art deco era designs. He was born in Indonesia and eventually settled in the Hague. Circe was a sorceress in Greek mythology.
