Etching, 1907-08, Hubert E88 (iii/III), Niuewenkamp E88; total edition unknown. 14 1/8 x 15 3/4 in. Signed in the plate, lower left. Signed and titled in pencil and also inscribed, "épreuve d'artiste." This is a fine impression printed on sturdy laid paper. The margins are wide and probably full. This exemplary work is a fine example of Dutch art nouveau ("nieuwe kunst") printmaking where art and decoration come together in a refined and elegant way. This is the third state as described but we've had an impression with a decorative floral border added with a date of 1914. The catalogue lists a total of only thirteen impressions over the three states and even with the decorative border impression(s) added, this is a very rare print.      SOLD
