Woodcut printed in colors, 1944, Williams 16, edition 150. 9 1/4 x 11 3/4 in. Signed in ink within the image, lower right. Titled and numbered in pencil. This is a fine, luminous impression with full margins. The condition is excellent. Rist was probably introduced to the woodcut medium by Morris Blackburn when they visited a show of Japanese prints in New York. Yet Rist was essentially self-taught and designed, cut and printed his own blocks. This print is illustrated on page 171 of American Prize Prints of the Twentieth Century by Albert Reese.       $3,500
