Woodcut printed in colors, 1947, Williams 23, edition probably 150. 9 3/8 x 13 3/8 in. Signed in ink within the image, lower right. Titled in pencil. Here we have a stellar impression with full margins. The condition is fine. Mentored by Morris Blackburn, Rist has work in collections including the Brooklyn Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, among others. He is known for his unique printmaking technique that combines traditional japanese woodcut methods with modern ingenuity. The Montclair Art Museum owns the eleven blocks for this print and the Lancaster Museum of Art (PA) owns a colored pencil drawing on tracing paper.       $4,500
