Modernist Scene with Figures - JORIS MINNE
Woodcut, 1931, edition 35. 13 x 11 in. Signed in pencil. A superb impression. Full margins. Very good condition other than slightly light struck within a previous mat opening. Minne is one of the most important figures of the Belgian modernist movement. He was co-founder of the periodical "Lumiere" (1919) and in 1969 was named president of l'Academie Royale de Belgique. He was also a fine sculptor. A major retrospective of his work was held in 1988.
