Le Bar Américain Drypoint and aquatint, 1900, Tabanelli 59 (ii/II), edition 40. 16 1/8 x 11 3/8 in. Signed and numbered in pencil. This is a superb impression printed on white laid paper. The margins are probably full and the condition is excellent. This work was published by Sagot, Paris, and their blindstamp is in the lower left (Lugt 2254). SOLD |

Le Promenoir (The Promenade) Etching, drypoint and aquatint printed in colors, 1903, Tabanelli 110, only state, edition 50. 11 5/8 x 18 1/4 in. Signed in the plate and signed in pencil by Chahine, lower right. Titled and numbered by the publisher, lower right. This is a fine impression printed on cream Japanese paper. The margins are full and the condition is also fine. This large, rare color print was published by Sagot, Paris, and bears their blindstamp (Lugt 2254) in the lower right corner. Along with Jacques Villon, James Tissot, and Toulouse-Lautrec, Chahine was one of the best portrayers of the images associated with la belle époque. (More than half of Chahine's prints were destroyed in a 1926 studio fire and even more were destroyed in a 1942 flood.) SOLD |

Signed in pencil and inscribed "epreuve," lower left. This is a fine impression printed on a cream Japan paper. The margins are substantial but somewhat trimmed. Fine condition. Along with Jacques Villon, James Tissot, and Toulouse-Lautrec, Chahine was one of the best portrayers of the images associated with la belle époque. (More than half of Chahine's prints were destroyed in a 1926 studio fire and even more were destroyed in a 1942 flood.) The print was published by Sagot but their blindstamp is not showing here. Women About Town (Les Trotteuses) Etching, soft ground and aquatint printed in colors, 1907, Tabanelli 234 (ii/II), edition 50 plus black and white proofs. 18 1/4 x 13 in. Signed, dedicated and titled in pencil. This is a superb impression printed on sturdy, cream wove paper. The margins are full. The condition is fine apart from a subtle suggestion of water staining in the lower right corner margin, well away from the image. This large, impressive color print is dedicated "à Mr. Levi de Benzion," Moïse Lévy de Benzion (1873-1943) who was an Egyptian department store owner and collector of art and antiquities. $3,200 |
