Here we have a superb impression with full margins. The condition is excellent. This compelling image is one of many intaglios produced by Janssen at the Giffelkunst-Vereinigung in Hamburg. This is the case here as the artist leans down to offer his cat, Lydia, a mouse. Janssen is widely considered one of the finest draughtsmen and printmakers of his generation. His work is found in a vast number of museums in Europe as well as here in the United States. This includes the Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago.
