'Fannin' & 'Foggin' - WEST

'Fannin' & 'Foggin'
Etching printed with tone, 1928, Torrington 103, edition 100. 7 7/8 x 13 1/8 in. Signed in the plate and in pencil. A fine impression in fine condition with full margins. Exemplary of his western subjects.

Snow Swept - WEST

Snow Swept
Etching, 1929, edition 100. 9 1/2 x 12 3/4 in. Signed, titled and numbered in pencil. This is a fine impression with full margins. The condition is very good apart from faint light toning within an old mat opening. West specialized in exactly this kind of imagery; men on horseback facing the elements. In 1962 he was awarded the Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award by the Governor of Montana.

Twin Pines - WEST

Twin Pines
Drypoint with etching, 1931, edition probably 100. 14 1/2 x 9 3/8 in. Signed in pencil, lower right. Here we have a fine impression, rich with burr. The margins are substantial and the condition is good. (There's a reinforced thin spot in the lower right margin to just outside the platemark.) This impression is inscribed "40." "Twin Pines" is one of West's preeminent western prints and an impression is found in the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Under the El - WEST

Under the El
Etching and drypoint, undated (probably 19, edition unknown 13 3/8 x 9 1/4 in. Signed in pencil and inscribed "4". A superb, atmospheric impression of this extremely rare print. Full margins. Fine condition. West studied with Joseph Pennell (1925-26) and produced just a few New York scenes, all of which are rare. The edition is unknown but we assume it to be quite limited.
